Cost Savings with AutoObesity  E-mail

The chart below gives a sample of how much money you can save by donating a car to BEST as part of the Autoobesity program, and switching to active and shared transportation to replace that wasteful vehicle.

Actual savings will vary on a case by case basis, but we can see that savings are significant. You could also leverage your first year savings by, for example, taking the money saved on taxes with the charitable tax receipt and putting it into an RRSP, or towards a mortgage. The same could be done with the annual savings of $3,200 - $5,800 that you wouldn't be spending on a vehicle.

Vehicle cost estimates were taken from the CAA's Driving Costs Pamphlet (Jan 2009) with the average gas price updated from their figure of 81.2 cents per liter to reflect the 2009 actual average of 98.4 cents per liter.
